On July 10, at 3 p.m. in northeast Houston, the Houston Police Department received a call regarding a shooting involving several victims outside the Mean Kutz barbershop, according to KTRK.
“There were two males that were arguing outside the barbershop here over who ran a race faster,” Houston Police Department Assistant Chief Wendy Baimbridge said to KTRK. “So at that point, one of the victims started walking away from the argument. The suspect then shot him twice in the shoulder.”
The other two people struck in the shootout were two innocent bystanders who were in the barbershop at the time. One of them was hit in the rear end while the other was shot in the arm, according to Baimbridge.
The suspects, who authorities believe initially started shooting, left the scene of the crime heading eastbound away from the barbershop in a black Nissan Frontier. At this time, the police do not have the license plate of the vehicle.
The Houston Police Department confirmed that video evidence of the incident had been gathered both through surveillance footage and the phone of a witness.
One of the victims was taken to Kingswood Hospital to be treated, while the other two were taken to Memorial Hospital. All are expected to survive their injuries as none of them are life-threatening.
“I just came to get a haircut, but that didn’t go as planned,” said one woman who witnessed the shooting, according to KRTK.
If anyone has information on the incident, the Houston Police Department is asking them to contact their Major Assault Division of Crime Stoppers.
