New traditions are born every holiday season and Dave Grohl has cemented his place in Hanukkah lore with his second annual Hanukkah Sessions series

The Foo Fighters frontman teamed up with the band's producer, Greg Kurstin, to once again treat fans to eight nights of covers from Jewish artists in celebration of Hanukkah.
Grohl and Kurstin conceived of the Hanukkah Sessions back in 2020 and saw the duo cover artists such as The Beastie Boys, Drake, Mountain, Bob Dylan, and more. 2021 saw the duo expand on the list and treat fans to eight nights of tasty tunes.
As the series continues to provide the perfect soundtrack for the lighting of the menorah, we've compiled a list of every single Hanukkah cover Dave Grohl and Greg Kurstin have released over the past 2 years.
Night One 2021: Lisa Loeb - "Stay"
The first night of Hanukkah saw Grohl sporting a lovely (Loeb-ly?) dress as the duo covered the song "Stay" from "one of Dallas, Texas's favorite Jewish daughters," Lisa Loeb.
Night Two 2021: The Ramones - "Blitzkrieg Bop"
Night two of Hanukkah took a decisively punk turn as Grohl and Kurstin reworked The Ramones' signature song "Blitzkrieg Bop" to sing "Hey! Oy! Let's Goy!" in the chorus.
Night Three 2021: Barry Manilow - "Copacabana"
On the third night of Hanukkah, the duo dedicated the evening to "Barry Pincus," who they described as "not only one of the greatest songwriters of the 20th (or any) century, but a mega-mensch to boot!"
Night Four 2021: Van Halen - "Jump"
"Quite possibly the loudest and proudest of hard rocking Jews," the duo wrote of David Lee Roth as they took on a raucous cover of Van Halen's "Jump" for night four.
Night Five 2021: Amy Winehouse - "Take The Box"
It was a family affair on night five of Hanukkah as Dave's daughter, Violet Grohl, delivered the lead vocals on a beautiful rendition of Amy Winehouse's "Take The Box."
Night Six 2021: Billy Joel - "Big Shot"
Night six of Hanukkah saw the duo deliver the "ultimate ode to a true Macher," with a cover of Billy Joel's "Big Shot."
Night Seven 2021 - The Clash - "Train In Vain"
Perhaps the best pun of the duo's Hanukkah Sessions was delivered on night seven as they wrote, "It's London Calling Jerusalem as we take a "Train In Vain.'"
Night Eight 2021 - KISS - "Rock And Roll All Nite"
Grohl and Kurstin made sure to send fans off on a high note and ensure they'll be rocking and rolling all the way to Hanukkah 2022 with a delightful cover of the KISS classic "Rock And Roll All Nite."
Night One 2020: The Beastie Boys - Sabotage
"As the only Rock and Roll Hall Of Famers with a lyric about kugel, we thought it would be a shanda to not kick off this party with New York's (and Abraham's) finest," they introduced the cover. Dave handles the vocals and does a remarkable job handling the irreplicable style the Beastie Boys had.
Night Two 2020: Drake - Hotline Bling
There's few instances where the world of the Foo Fighters and Drake intersect, but this is one and it's everything we could have hoped for. Plus, stay for the footage of Dave Grohl vibing with some menorahs.
Night Three 2020: Mountain - Mississippi Queen
"Talk about making a mountain out of a mohel," opens the description of the video for the third night of Hanukkah, which features a rocking cover of Mountain's "Mississippi Queen."
Night Four 2020: Peaches - F*** The Pain Away
It's not often you get to tell your family about a new Hanukkah song called "F*** The Pain Away," but here we are. The breakthrough song from Peaches features a special guest cameo from the singer about halfway through the song.
Night Five 2020: Bob Dylan - Rainy Day Women #12 & 35
"So now everybody must get stoned (not in the Law of Moses sense) as we put some blood on this track!" The video description reads as Grohl and Kurstin did a marvelous job on the twangy cover.
Night Six 2020: Elastica - Connection
The sounds of Hanukkah are filled with… 90's Britpop? For the sixth night of Hanukkah, Grohl and Kurstin paid tribute to the Elastica frontwoman Justine Frischmann as they delivered an excellent cover of their hit song "Connection."
Night Seven 2020: The Knack - Frustrated
"Tonight we're featuring 4 nice Jewish boys whose biggest hit was a song about a nice Jewish girl… "My Shalom-a" or something like that…" Grohl and Kurstin wrote in the video description. While the Foo Fighters have covered "My Sharona" before, the duo's take on The Knack's "Frustrated" is superb.
Night Eight 2020: The Velvet Underground - Rock and Roll
"As 2020 comes to a close and another Hanukkah ends (my first!) I am reminded of the two things that have gotten me through this year: music and hope," writes Dave in the description for final cover, an excellent take on an all-time anthem from The Velvet Underground.
