Get your face masks and cosmos ready because not even “Sex and the City” can avoid COVID-19.
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Sarah Jessica Parker revealed that the coronavirus pandemic will be addressed in the upcoming HBO Max reboot.
It will “obviously be part of the storyline,” the 55-year-old explained to the outlet, adding, “that’s the city [these characters] live in.“
“And how has that changed relationships once friends disappear? I have great faith that the writers are going to examine it all,” she added.
Will adding COVID-19 into the fold ruin the shimmering escapism the show has offered since its inception in 1998?
In addition to Parker, who stars as columnist Carrie Bradshaw, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis will reprise their roles as Miranda and Charlotte, respectively.
Kim Catrall, who will not revive her beloved character, Samantha Jones, will not be replaced.
“We’re not looking to create a fourth character,” Parker explained, adding, “there will be lots of interesting, new characters we are super excited about.”
Earlier this month, the streaming service confirmed the 10-episode, half-hour reboot titled “And Just Like That…” with a cheeky video on Instagram.
"I couldn’t help but wonder... where are they now? X, SJ @HBOMax@JustLikeThatMax#AndJustLikeThat #SATCNextChapter, " Parker’s Instagram post read.
Production is set to begin in New York in “late spring. The series will “follow Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.”
Parker also revealed that there will be an “incredibly diverse” writing room, which allows the series to address “life experience, political world views, and social world views.”
