It looked like there were going to be fireworks early in Tuesday’s American League Wild Card game when Giancarlo Stanton launched a ball deep to left field.
ESPN play-by-play announcer Matt Vasgersian proclaimed with excitement that Stanton had got a hold of another one. The ESPN camerawork made it seem like the ball was destined for Landsdowne Street. Stanton himself watched as he thought he put the Yankees up 1-0.

Instead, the ball hit the Green Monster, and not even close to the top of the wall, for what turned out to be a very, very long single.
Naturally, the moment had everyone on social media firing off.
First, there were the fans ripping Stanton for not hustling, believing he should have had at least a double.
Although, some defended Stanton.
Meanwhile, more fans seemed to be roasting Vasgersian, who jumped the gun on the home run call for fans watching at home.
