ESPN is carrying Tuesday’s Wild Card showdown between the Red Sox and Yankees. But that doesn’t mean you have to subject yourself to A-Rod’s nonsense.
There’s always the radio broadcast!
OK, OK, we get it: you’re going to be home, and turning on the TV is more convenient. It’s nice to see the game unfold with your own eyes if you can.
But that doesn’t mean you have to keep the sound on. Turn A-Rod down, and put on Joe Castig, Sean McDonough and Will Flemming.
Let's face it: A-Rod is embarrassing in the booth, and unfortunately, we’ve been subjected to him several times this season. His most recent Red Sox-Yankees telecast was Sept. 26, when he failed to elaborate on why he hasn’t spoken to Jason Varitek since 2004, or say anything of interest.
All summer long, A-Rod has misidentified players (hi “Bobby Daubach”) and provided ludicrous analysis (such as saying the Yankees should trade for a “Christian Yelich-type”). On Tuesday, there’s no doubt he’ll spew plenty of more inanity.
He’s always choked in October, after all.
So if you want to avoid that train wreck, WEEI’s Red Sox coverage begins at 7:08 p.m. with Mut, who was once lovingly compared to a warm bath. First pitch is at 8:08 p.m.
You can find your Red Sox Radio Network station here. You can also stream the game on WEEI.com or the Audacy app (which you can download here) throughout New England.
