Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry is paying tribute to a golf legend who paved the way for Black athletes.

Curry on Thursday announced the release of a special Masters-themed baseball-style cap inscribed with '1975' on the front -- the year golf trailblazer Lee Elder broke the famed tournament's color barrier. An inscription on the side reads, 'Stay the course.'

The cap -- green, of course -- is made by Curry's recently launched Curry Brand imprint, an Under Armour spinoff. The two-time NBA MVP posted a video and photos from a golf course, where he was teeing it up with teammates Damion Lee and Kent Bazemore, who were also rocking the hats.

"Mr. Lee Elder, I wanted to say thank you so much for your life's work, for your legacy, your inspiration, and blazing a path and overcoming so many obstacles to open up the game of golf for those that deserve to play and for the underrepresented.

"It's amazing that you're doing the opening ceremonial shot at the Masters. ... This is an amazing moment. I'm repping the 1975 hat. Of course I wasn't around when you stepped foot on Augusta National, playing in the Masters for the first time. Like you always say, 'stay the course.'"

Elder, now 86, appeared as an honorary starter alongside fellow legends Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player ahead of the first group for Thursday morning's opening round at Augusta National.

Elder won four tournaments in his career, including the 1974 Pensacola Open, which earned him an automatic berth in the '75 Masters.

Curry is an avid golfer, and is said to have a scratch handicap. He played with Phil Mickelson in a 2019 pro-am.
