The Trail Blazers have now lost seven-straight games. The latest disappointment came against the Grizzlies Wednesday night, 113-103. Portland lead by as many as 10 points during the contest, and allowed the Grizzlies (without Ja Morant) to go on a 14-0 run to close out the game. It was a predictable result for a predictable team that has faced setback after setback this 2021 season. Whether it’s a first-time head coach, rumor dissatisfaction from Damian Lillard, firing a general manager or CJ McCollum missing extended time, it all boils down to one thing…

Rip City should consider pulling the plug on this season.

FAN Blazers Insider Jason Quick released an article describing how Lillard recently gave an impassioned speech to teammates about not folding this season. It’s a necessary act for a leader during moments of hardship. One must rally the troops and make sure morale remains high. There are aspects to this season that provide some hope for playoff positioning.

The possibility of dealing players via trade can happen. There have only been around 30 games played in the season. Chauncey Billups scheme could develop over the next couple of weeks. But these are all assurances that ignore Portland’s massive transitionary year and broken roster.

I’m not saying the Blazers should give up on this season. They should readjust expectations and begin planning to build a new roster around Damian Lillard in order to get the last few years of prime out of Dame Time.
