There’s one name that has struck a chord in most Trail Blazer fans, this off season. No, it’s not True Hoop writer Henry Abbott and his divergent reports concerning Damian Lillard’s happiness. It’s not general manager Neil Olshey who most fans have considered a lost cause to the franchise’s future. It’s definitely not Cody Zeller… This name elicits reactions of frustration, hope and opportunity. It’s CJ McCollum.
What are the Portland Trail Blazers going to do with CJ McCollum?
The shooting guard is coming off a difficult season plagued by injury and inconsistent play. He’s also had to deal with constant chatter about potential trades and deals. Objectively speaking, McCollum is the team’s best trade asset to build a more complete roster that features a more defensive slant. Unfortunately, there is a real possibility CJ will be on the roster again next season.
FAN Trail Blazers Insider, Jason Quick has many times expressed his opinion that McCollum will stay with the team. Marc Stein even shut down the popular trade idea of CJ McCollum for Ben Simmons. But Philadelphia is looking at another Blazer:
Portland’s CJ McCollum has been mentioned often as a potential Sixers target in a Simmons deal; rest assured that Morey longs for Damian Lillard if he is targeting any Trail Blazer.
