The 2021 NBA season is VERY young. It’s difficult to judge any team off just three games. But if you’re a fan of the Portland Trail Blazers, this early showing has been anything but encouraging. Sure; the team is 1-2 with a quality win over the Western Conference champs. But the team’s loss to the Clippers Monday night signaled a distressing trend that hopefully will not persist into the bulk of this season.
Inconsistency is the name of this game. The Trail Blazers are relishing in it.
A perfect example of this are the shooting struggles of one, Damian Lillard. He scored just 12 points on 4 of 15 shooting and missed all eight of his 3-point attempts, Monday. This contributed to the Trail Blazers’ 38% shooting and 15 assists, both lows in the past three games. The Clippers' defense never let the Blazers get an extended run going in and forced 30 turnovers.

There are some bright spots to these few games. CJ McCollum is beginning to score more consistently and show he’s ready to take on more scoring responsibility. Anfernee Simmons has shown flashes at times…
It’s very early in the NBA season and this may sound like an overreaction, but this slow starting trend has plagued the Trail Blazers for some time, now.
