For the past few weeks, the words "he's back" have often been followed by a question mark, a skeptical inflection, a hint of doubt when referring to Saquon Barkley's return to the football field. On Thursday afternoon, that seemed to change.
According to Giants offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, the 24-year-old has worked hard enough to shed any doubt that he'll be good to go come Sunday against the Broncos. In fact, according to SNY's Ralph Vacchiano, Garrett said he's "healthy and 100 percent," which is certainly encouraging news to hear. WFAN's Paul Dottino added more.
Barkley hasn't appeared in a game in nearly a full year, last taking the field on September 20 of the 2020 season and logging only four attempts before his injury. Exercising as much caution as possible has obviously been the Giants' plan ever since, while also attempting to ramp him back up to full speed, and it will be interesting to see just how much he's used in Week 1 and in what situations.

Hearing he's 100 percent is obviously a big step in the right direction. With that said, it seems fairly likely that a large portion of the Giants fan base — and 100 percent of his fantasy football owners — will be cringing with every sharp cut, every shedded tackle and every single time he touches the ball early on in the season.
And with that said... let's get ready for this. Because he's back.
