Super Bowl 55 was all about Tom Brady vs. Patrick Mahomes on the national stage. But if you were looking for any connections from the state of Oregon, there were two players who were of great consequence to the game’s finish.

Mike Remmers, from Jesuit high school, and Ndamukong Suh, from Grant high school, faced off on the line of scrimmage for most of Sunday’s game. Remmers played tackle for the Chiefs in place of an injured Eric Fisher.
Suh was an integral part of a Buccaneer defensive line filled with experience and grit. Each had a different results on Sunday night.

Remmers was tasked with blocking Shaquil Barrett on the left side of the line. For most of the night, he was able to contain the defensive end from hitting quarterback Patrick Mahomes. That all changed in the 3rd quarter when Barrett bull rushed through Remmers arms and got to Mahomes to create a six yard loss on the sack. It didn’t help that Jason Pierre-Paul was closing in on the opposite side of the line.

The Kansas City Chiefs allowed three sacks on the night.
Ndamukong Suh contributed with 1.5 of those devastating hits.

Suh made his mark on the game by applying pressure up the middle of Kansas City’s offensive line, and making Mahomes uncomfortable most of the game. “Our whole goal was to move him (Mahomes) to his left,” Suh told ESPN’s Get Up!. “Even though we gave up a little bit of running yards late in the game, I think we ultimately executed on what Coach Bowles wanted.”

Both Remmers and Suh will be free-agents come next season.
