DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney is the new home of the AT&T Byron Nelson, starting in 2021.

The tournament announced earlier this year that it was searching for a new home after spending 2018 and 2019 in South Dallas at Trinity Forest.  This year's tournament was canceled because of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The deal is for five years, and tournament officials think it's a great fit because the McKinney area aggressively wooed the event.

"We were basically overwhelmed with the passion that they brought to the discussions," says tournament director Jon Drago. "It became pretty clear that they were going to be our next home."

The tournament is more than a half-century old and valued finding a course and area that could host the Nelson for the long term.

The course is long, over 7,400 yards.  Rowlett Creek runs through the course.  And the course has plenty of trees for shade, unlike the links-style Trinity Forest course.

Drago also said there were plans for plenty of public parking within three miles of the course.
