Jones has missed the team's entire training camp after undergoing hip surgery in the offseason.
Garrett says Jones will increase his activity in practice this week. However, when asked if he expected Jones to be ready to go when they open the season on September 8 against the New York Giants, Garrett wasn't sure.
"We just got to wait and see. He hasn't been out on the practice field yet. We should see him in a little bit of action tonight and tomorrow night and we'll see how he does with that."
Jones returning with just under two weeks to go before the season opener is a positive sign for his chances of playing in week one.
