Rangers Hunter Pence Name Sporting News AL Comeback Player of the Year

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Texas Rangers Outfielder and Designated Hitter Hunter Pence was named the Sporting News American League Comeback Player of the Year on Wednesday, the publication announced. 

The award was voted on by the players.

In 2019, his first season with the Rangers, Pence hit 18 home runs and 59 RBI in 83 appearances, posting a .297/.358/.552/.910 slash line in 286 at-bats. 

An Arlington Native and Arlington High Shcool alum, Pence was also tabbed for his fourth All-Star appearance in 2019, which made his first appearance since 2014 with the San Francisco Giants. 

Pence is the eighth Ranger to have won the award, and the first since Prince Fielder in the 2015 season. Other winners include Vladimir Guerrero in 2010 and Ruben Sierra in 2001.
