With Andre Drummond officially on the trading block, the 7-footer could prefer a homecoming back to New York.

According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, Drummond – a Mount Vernon native – would consider the Knicks a good landing spot.

The Knicks have surprisingly played some good enough basketball this season to put themselves in position as a playoff contender ahead of the March 25 trade deadline.

They currently sit in the sixth seed and recently made a deal for veteran point guard Derrick Rose but lost big Mitchell Robinson with a fractured right hand, which will likely sideline him at least six weeks.

It is not yet known if the Knicks have serious interest in Drummond, but his addition could be an ideal fit to plug into the starting role at center in order to keep pace in the Eastern Conference with Robinson out. Plus, the Knicks would not have to commit to Drummond beyond this season since he is a pending free agent.

A deal for Drummond would probably require one or both of Frank Ntilikina and Kevin Knox as well as a pick. According to veteran NBA reporter Sam Amico, the Knicks are willing to move Knox for the right deal.

Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report speculates the Knicks would have to include a third team, such as the Dallas Mavericks, in order to get the right pieces in place for a deal.

Drummond, who is averaging 19.3 points, 15.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.6 blocks this year, could also be a fit across the East River in Brooklyn for the Nets.

Yet, the Nets’ best chances of landing Drummond would likely require the Cavs buying out his contract and becoming a free agent.
