DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Monday on 105.3 The Fan that the Cowboys hadn't spoken with Earl Thomas yet. But is that about to change?
Kevin Turner reported Friday morning that the Cowboys and free agent safety Earl Thomas would meet in the next 48 hours.
So, when Jones joined the K&C Masterpiece on Friday morning on 105.3 The Fan he was asked if he could confirm or deny the report?
"To the extent that there's a report out there. No. I can't. I can't confirm that in any way. And I haven't heard that report. To the end that we are making our roster in the next 48 hours ... making decisions and not just in the safety spot but other spots. I can confirm that process is going on. But I don't know about that report."
To summarize, Jones didn't deny that they'll meet with Thomas, it appears he's just denying that fact that he had any knowledge that someone reported on their meeting taking place.
NFL Network reporter Jane Slater followed up Turner's report by saying her sources "seem genuinely oblivious" to a meeting taking place between the Cowboys and Thomas.
The Cowboys already had a need at the position, and now the need is even greater after they released Ha Ha Clinton-Dix on Thursday afternoon.
It sounds like it'll be an interesting weekend in Dallas. Stay tuned.
