Brian Schottenheimer is officially entering the race to become the Cowboys' next head coach.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Jane Slater. the team's offensive coordinator for the last two seasons is "expected to interview" for the vacancy.
The news comes after some sports books made Schottenheimer the favorite to be the team's next coach on Monday.
Schottenheimer, 51, joined Mike McCarthy's staff in 2022 as an offensive analyst and was installed as the offensive coordinator in 2023. However, he didn't call the plays as he did in his previous stops.
Schottenheimer, the son of longtime NFL head coach Marty Schottenheimer, was previously the offensive coordinator with the Jets, Rams and Seahawks. He was also the QBs coach for Washington, the Chargers and the Colts.
