DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Despite being without star quarterback Dak Prescott and suffering injuries to other key playmakers such as Tyron Smith, the Dallas Cowboys escaped Minneapolis with a win on Sunday night.
On Monday, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones gave updates on those injuries, and what he expects heading into the team's matchup with the Broncos this weekend.
The good news for Cowboys fans, is that Prescott in particular, is expected to be full recovered and ready to go by next Sunday.
“We have every reason to think that he’s on go, and he should be ready to go,” Jones said. “This will give him quite the layoff, including the bye week that we had. So we have every reason to think he’ll be on the field for us this week.”
Prescott injured his calf on the final play of the Cowboys win over New England two weeks ago, and was held out of Dallas' win over Minnesota this past weekend.
As for Smith, the prognosis from Jones was not as emphatic, but he did indicate that Smith's injury wasn't an immense concern, and that time will tell as to whether or not he will be ready for Sunday.
"We'll have to see how Tyron Practices," Jones said. "Say it's a spur. We'll take a look at that as it moves through. We should and will practice with alternatives to him being out there, but it will really depend on how he does, again, respond to a spur that's been giving him some anxiety right now -- not anxiety, just giving him some pain."
Finally, Jones gave updates on both wideout Michael Gallup and defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, both of whom are expected to return to practice this week.
"(Lawrence" is making tremendous progress," Jones said. “Of course, what we have to fear on him is when he gets out there because he doesn’t know but one gear, and that is all out.”
Jones also said that Gallup is the closer of the two to return to game action.
