DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons appears to have swayed wide receiver Cedrick Wilson into giving up No. 11.
The Cowboys Pro Shop sent out a tweet Wednesday afternoon with information that Parsons' No. 11 jerseys were now on sale.
Parsons had expressed an interest in getting to wear his old number at Penn State during his first interview as a Dallas Cowboy on draft night. However, the guys were quick to point out that he'd need to do some negotiating with Wilson in order to secure the number.
"(The Cowboys) hit me up," he said on 105.3 The Fan. "I need that 11. They gave me some options and I said ...'I need 11. I'll do whatever it takes."
The topic came up again at Parsons' introductory press conference but the No. 12 overall pick said he hadn't had a chance to speak with Wilson yet about the switch. That's when owner Jerry Jones chimed in and said, "what negotiation?"
That comment, and the fact that Wilson recently changed the number on his Twitter bio to No. 1, made it pretty clear that Parsons was going to get his wish.
Wilson owning the number wasn't the first hurdle for Parsons to clear, however. Thanks to a new rule put in place by the NFL this season, linebackers are now eligible to wear any number from 1-59 or 90-99.
