DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott had to be carted off the field after he suffered a serious ankle injury in Sunday's game against the New York Giants.
Prescott was transported to a local hospital where it was discovered that he had suffered a right ankle compound fracture and dislocation. He'll undergo surgery tonight and will miss the rest of the season.
The Cowboys quarterback was injured when he scrambled on a first down run in the third quarter. Camera footage showed his right foot was turned sideways.
The team's medical staff immediately tended to him and placed him on the cart.
Giants offensive coordinator and former Cowboys coach Jason Garrett came onto the field to check on Prescott and put his arm around Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy. The Jones family was very emotional as cameras captured them embracing one another in their suite.
Prescott was in tears as they drove him off the field. He raised his fist into the air and pointed to the sky as he disappeared into the tunnel.
Andy Dalton took over for Prescott at quarterback and was able to lead the Cowboys to a 37-34 win.
