DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - After losing nose tackle Jonathan Hankins to a significant injury, the Cowboys have signed defensive lineman Anthony Rush to the practice squad. Rush will take the spot vacated by linebacker Malik Jefferson, who was released on Wednesday.
Dallas lost Hankins to a strained pectoral muscle in Sunday's win over the Texans. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday on 'Shan and RJ' on 105.3 The Fan that Hankins is out for the rest of the regular season but could be back for a potential playoff run.
"You can see Johnathan back for the playoffs," Jones said. "He won't be back before then."
Rush, who was cut from the Eagles' practice squad on Dec. 6, worked out for the Cowboys on Tuesday.
Rush, 26, has bounced around the NFL since entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2019 out of Alabama-Birmingham. Rush began his career with the Eagles, and has spent time with Green Bay, Seattle, Atlanta and Tennessee. Rush started four games with the Falcons this season before being cut in October.
According to a source close to 105.3 The Fan's Bryan Broaddus, the Cowboys get a thumbs up for bringing in Rush.
It is. I typed the wrong name. It is Anthony and he was in Atlanta but not with DQ. My guys say it was a good add. https://t.co/dQaWwl3Xw6
