DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Cowboys kicker Greg Zuerlein is officially on the hot seat, as the team is expected to re-sign kicker Lirim Hajrullahu to the practice squad this week, Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News reported Monday afternoon.

Hajrullahu spent part of training camp with the Cowboys and kicked in their preseason game against the Texans before being cut on Aug. 25 to make room on the roster for Zuerlein.
Zuerlein, who missed the majority of camp after undergoing offseason back surgery, struggled in the season-opening loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, going 3 for 5 on his field-goal attempts, and 2 for 3 on his extra-point tries.

Following the game, Zuerlein took the blame for the loss.
"If I did my job, we win that game. I feel bad for the guys in there that played their ass off, and I didn’t hold up my end of the deal. ... We’re right there. I just have to do my job," Zuerlein said on the Cowboys postgame show on 105.3 The Fan.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expressed confidence in Zuerlein's ability to get back on track Friday on 105.3 The Fan, but this type of move certainly puts the 33-year-old veteran kicker on notice.
