Jerry Jones says Cowboys LB Leighton Vander Esch isn't Prone to Injuries

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - A day after the Cowboys COO Stephen Jones announced on 105.3 The Fan that Leighton Vander Esch would need surgery on his broken collarbone, team owner Jerry Jones was asked if he believes the linebacker is injury prone?

"Knowing his injury that he had a year ago. That was not an injury prone type injury. He plays what I call a space collusion type position. You have injury at those positions of that nature. It was so rare or so specific to the position he was in when he did it. Talking about his initial neck injury, I don't add that to anything. I don't think he's any more venerable one way or another," Jones said Tuesday on Shan and RJ on 105.3 The Fan.

Vander Esch appeared in only nine games in 2019 due to a neck injury that required surgery in the offseason. His latest injury is expected to keep him out six to eight weeks, according to multiple reports.

"The injury he has now is just bad luck. We've seen it and you do see it in football. I think he'll come back from it. No, I don't think he's injury prone. I think he plays a tough, physical position, and he's going to have injury that he deals with," Jones said.
