DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Cowboys appear to have dodged a bullet with All-Pro left tackle Tyron Smith's neck issue.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and head coach Mike McCarthy both joined 105.3 The Fan on Friday morning and were asked about Smith's and cornerback Trevon Diggs' (ankle) chances of playing this Sunday vs. New England?

“I’m thinking we’re going to be fine there. We’ll see how Tyron is today when he comes in. But it's something that showed up in practice yesterday," McCarthy said of Smith on Shan and RJ.

A short time later at his media availability, McCarthy said Smith won't practice Friday and he'll be listed as questionable on the injury report.

As for Diggs, McCarthy said he considers his rising star cornerback a game-time decision for Sunday, and he'll continue to rehab on the sidelines at practice.

“He just needs to keep progressing. If he keeps making progress, I think he’ll be ready to go," McCarthy said on 105.3 The Fan.

Jones threw all of that out the window in his visit with the K&C Masterpiece when he proclaimed that Smith and Diggs "are gonna be ready to go" this Sunday in Foxborough.

"We've gotten full, positive reports on Tyron, and Diggs will be ready to play. There's no being coy about it. There's every reason to let them get rested, and let them ease off of the issues they might have had. But they'll be ready to play," Jones said.

Smith was listed as a limited participant in Thursday's practice with a neck injury, and Bryan Broaddus reported that he underwent an MRI.

Diggs has missed both practices this week, as he continues to manage an ankle injury he suffered in the Cowboys' Week 5 win over the Giants.
