DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Mavericks are getting prepared to host at least 15,000 fans for Friday and Sunday's playoff games at the American Airlines Center.
Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News reported Thursday that the Mavs are now expecting attendance figures to reach over 16,000 fans. The AAC has a seating capacity of 20,000 for basketball games.
For many fans who attend the game, it will be their first time entering the arena in more than a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In order to get fans back in the building for playoff games, the team has put several protocols in place. You can see them below, via the Mavs and AAC websites.
Note: The Mavericks are asking all fans to wear blue for all home games. The organization has typically provided playoff t-shirts for fans. However, it's not known if they will give away shirts this year.
*All fans who attend must complete the Fan Health Survey on gameday before they can enter the arena.*
*All transactions will be cashless and all tickets can be accessed on your smart phone by downloading the Dallas Mavericks app.
Bags and purses will not be permitted. Wallet-size clutches no larger than 4.5" x 6.5", medical bags and parenting bags will be permitted. All bags permitted are subject to security screening.
Face masks are required to be worn while inside American Airlines Center at all times. All persons age 2 years and older must wear a face covering. Neck gaiters, face masks with vents, and bandanas are not acceptable face coverings. Face shields may not be worn in place of a face mask, though may be worn in addition to a face mask.
In partnership with the city of Dallas, the Mavericks are hosting a vaccination event outside of Victory Plaza for Texas residents aged 18 and older. The event will take place from 6p-10p on Friday and Sunday. No appointment is required and walk-ups are welcome, even for those who aren't attending the game.
