DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Mavericks' president of basketball operations and general manager Donnie Nelson has always played his cards close to the chest. The same can be said for team owner Mark Cuban.

Any time trade or free agent rumors involving the Mavs are floated out by NBA reporters, they very rarely come from the Mavs organization.

With the NBA trade deadline set for Thursday at 2 p.m. CT, the Mavs have been connected to several players, including Orlando's Evan Fournier and Aaron Gordon, Sacramento's Harrison Barnes and Buddy Hield, Cleveland's Andre Drummond, and Atlanta's John Collins.

But Nelson says the team is happy with their young core of players and plans to be very careful not to ruin their burgeoning chemistry by changing the roster at the deadline.

"Don't get your hopes up, boys. We like this young crew," Nelson said. "(Our) young (players) have a tremendous value around the league. So in lieu of future draft picks, we certainly have the currency to get a deal done. It just has to be worth it. From our vantage point, we love our (young players), and we're not willing to look at anything unless it's an over-the-top move."
