DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - After a disappointing season, the lottery gods finally smiled down upon the Dallas Mavericks. Well sort of. After weeks of waiting the Mavs finally discovered their fate, and will keep their upcoming NBA Draft pick.
Dallas had three percent odds at the No. 1 pick entering the night, and will now select at No. 10 overall, meaning they will miss out on the sweepstakes for Victor Wembanyama.
The Mavs were expected to challenge for an NBA title this past season, particularly after their blockbuster trade for guard Kyrie Irving.
However, those plans soon fell apart, with the Mavs crumbling in the second half of the season on their way to missing a playoff spot.
Now, however, the Mavs will have a chance to add a difference maker to the roster heading into the offseason. Perhaps one that will help take some pressure off of Luka Doncic.
And hopefully, Kyrie Irving too.
