DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Mavericks and Director of Quantitative Research and Development Haralabos Voulgaris have reportedly mutually agreed to part ways on Thursday, bringing an end to his nearly four-year tenure with the franchise.

According to the report, Voulgaris was not fired, but his contract was allowed to expire by new general manager, Nico Harrison.

Voulgaris later released a statement on Twitter, noting that he asked to be let out of his contract and was denied by Mavs decision makers.

The news comes three months after reports surfaced that Voulgaris had begun to cause rifts within the organization by exerting vast control over both the team's overall roster transactions, as well as their day-to-day lineups.

Those rifts not only reportedly played a role in the exits of former GM Donnie Nelson and former head coach Rick Carlisle, but also trickled down to the franchise's super star, Luka Doncic as well.

After being hired in 2018, Voulgaris has been behind numerous front office moves for the Mavericks, including the acquisitions of both Seth Curry and Delon Wright, the latter of which was promptly traded last offseason, following a disastrous season in Dallas.

Voulgaris was also reportedly directly responsible for the drafting of rookies Josh Green and Tyrell Terry in the 2021 NBA Draft, neither of which made an impact on the team's on court success this past season.

To make things worse, Tim Cato of the Athletic also reported vast confusion within the Mavs front office, as to who actually held decision-making power outside of owner Mark Cuban, with one source telling the reporter that the team had "two general managers."

Cuban refuted those allegations.
