6A #3 SOUTHLAKE CARROLL at 5AD1 #4 HIGHLAND PARK (7 p.m. Thursday at AT&T Stadium)
This is a rare meeting between these Texas football titans. Southlake Carroll went 12-2 and lost in the state championship game a year ago. They have 14 starters back, and it would have been 15, if not for the departure of QB Quinn Ewers, who took advantage of the new NIL rules, graduated early and is now enrolled at Ohio State. Kaden Anderson steps in for Ewers at QB. Anderson saw very limited action a year ago. The Carroll offense will be carried by All-State Jr. RB Owen Allen, who ran for 2,000 yards and 28 TDs in 2020.
