The Philadelphia Eagles have traded up one spot in the NFL draft to jump the Chicago Bears and select Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
The Eagles traded pick No. 10 overall and a 2024 fourth rounder to the Bears to flip spots with them and draft at No. 9 overall, taking Carter.
Carter is a 22-year-old, 6'3", 300-pound defensive tackle. Carter played three seasons for Georgia, including two with the Eagles' 2022 draft selections in Nakobe Dean and Jordan Davis.
Carter had 7.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, 3 pass deflections, and 2 forced fumbles last season with the Bulldogs.
Carter will learn behind Eagles legend 32-year-old six-time Pro Bowl DT Fletcher Cox, who is returning in 2023 on a one-year, $10 million deal.
