Former Cowboys wide receiver Ryan Switzer’s son is being transferred to a Boston medical facility to help determine why he keeps bleeding.

In early March, Switzer along with his wife Gabie found their son Christian woke up “in his blood” and tested positive for COVID-19.

Surgery was performed on Christian to find the source of the bleeding. Switzer said after coming out of surgery, “the GI specialist found several sites of bleeding” and that a biopsy was being done to find a possible cause.

The bleeding stopped for a time but has continued to be an issue for the infant who had “significant bleeding” over the weekend.

After a blood transfusion and additional scans doctors were still unable to diagnose the cause of the bleeding.

After talking with UPMC and Boston Children’s Hospital about Christian’s issue, doctors decided that Boston is where he will be transferred.

“They’re calling this a ‘vascular anomaly’ from somewhere in his GI tract that they just haven’t found yet,” Switzer said on Twitter.

He also took time on Tuesday to express his gratitude who all of those who are praying for Christian.

“I also wanted to share Gabie’s and I appreciation for everyone who is lifting our son up in prayer. We know there are so many things everyone could be praying about and the fact you are interceding to God on our son’s behalf is so heartwarming. Here’s to some good news tomorrow.”

Switzer has been a longtime supporter of UPMC Children’s Hospital. If you would like to donate in Christian’s name you can do so here.

Last week before the latest incident, Switzer took to Twitter to thank a bunch of people for their support including Kevin Colbert and the Steelers organization.

Switzer is currently a receiver for the Cleveland Browns.
