Texas Rangers right fielder Adolis Garcia left Game 3 of the World Series in the seventh inning on Monday with left side tightness, according to the club.
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said after the game that Garcia will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the injury.
"[Adolis Garcia] will get some diagnostics done, see where he's at. We're being optimistic, but we'll know more tomorrow," Bochy said.
Garcia flew out to center field in his eighth-inning at-bat and immediately reached toward his left side as he gingerly trotted to first base. He bent over and slowly made his way to the dugout and down the steps into the clubhouse alongside Rangers trainer Matt Lucero.
Travis Jankowski replaced Garcia in right field to begin the 8th inning.
Garcia was 0 for 3 with a walk before being lifted Monday. He was named ALCS MVP after slugging five home runs in the series. In Game 1 of the World Series, Garcia broke an MLB postseason record when he recorded his 22nd RBI of the postseason.
Garcia became the second Ranger to exit the game due to injury, as starter Max Scherzer was forced to leave after pitching three innings because of back tightness.
Bochy also said that Scherzer would get an MRI.
