DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Texas Rangers made a pitch to former Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager about signing up to play next to his brother Corey this season, according to Audacy insider Jon Heyman.

However, Seager declined by saying "he was happily doing chores at home."

Seager, 34, retired after playing 11 seasons with the Mariners.

So, the Rangers moved on by re-signing infielder Charlie Culberson to a minor-league deal, and by signing infielder Brad Miller to a free-agent deal. Both players were brought in to compete with Andy Ibanez for the starting job at third base, but they'll likely go with a platoon situation until Josh Jung is ready to return from a shoulder injury.

Culberson hit a whopping .346/.376/.556 against lefties in 144 plate appearances last season, but just .123/.206/.175 against righties. in 127 plate appearances.

Miller batted .227/.321/.453 with the Phillies in 2021.
