DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - It can't get any better than that.
Rangers' third baseman Josh Jung slugged his first career home run in his first career MLB at-bat on Friday night in front of several friends and family members at Globe Life Field.
Facing Blue Jays right-hander Ross Stripling in the third inning, Jung was down 1-2 when he got just enough of an 84 mph off-speed pitch to carry the ball over the wall in left field.
According to the Rangers Public Relations staff, Jung is the second player in Rangers history to hit a home run in his first career at-bat. Jurickson Profar was the first Ranger to achieve the feat in 2012.
Jung, the Rangers 2019 first-round pick and No. 1 prospect, was promoted to the big-league club ahead of Friday's game.
Jung missed a majority of the season after he suffered a torn labrum in his left shoulder while lifting weights in February. On July 28, the Rangers placed him on their Rookie-level Arizona Complex league team. After appearing in eight games, the club transferred him to Round Rock, where he hit .273/.381/.538 with six home runs and 24 RBI in 23 games.
In 153 career minor league games, Jung hit .311./.366/.910 with 30 home runs and 118 RBI.
