Every week, Triple M takes a musical journey into our past on the Friday Night Flashback! Listen Friday nights at 10pm.
This week, we venture to 1974, when the country was in the midst of an energy crisis, and the highway speed limit was reduced to 55mph to conserve fuel.
The United States was facing a political crisis too, as President Nixon resigned the presidency in the wake of Watergate.
Popular movies in 1974 included Blazing Saddles, Towering Inferno, and Young Frankenstein. TV viewers were checking out new shows including Happy Days, Little House On The Prairie, and The Six Million Dollar Man. "We can rebuild him, we can make him better than he was."
As far as toys were concerned, 1974 was the first year of the Magna Doodle and GI Joe with Kung Fu grip!
What songs were we listening to? Tune in Friday night to find out.
