In 1969, peace, love and music were being celebrated at the Woodstock Music and Arts Festival in upstate New York. Meantime, peace was the rallying cry at protests of U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War all across the United States, including right here in Madison. It was also the year man first set foot on the moon, inspiring the logo for MTV more than a decade later.
On TV, we were betting our sweet bippy on Laugh-in, and watching Brady Bunch and Sesame Street for the first time. Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid was the biggest movie at the box office-with kids flocking to see The Love Bug.
Some pretty amazing albums came out in 1969--including the Beatles "Abbey Road" Rolling Stones "Beggar's Banquet," and the debuts from Crosby Stills and Nash and Led Zeppelin. What else were we listening to? Tune in to The Friday Night Flashback with Amber Star this Friday from 10 to midnight to find out. Sponsored by Funk's Pub in Fitchburg.
