Posting across all their socials, Paramore told their followers earlier this week that their next release would be a remix of February’s This is Why album, with each song being a new version of the original, sung by or inspired by others. “We’ve long wanted to recognize the connection we have with some of the artists who’ve influenced us as a band and/or who have cited our band as an influence,” the band wrote on their Instagram, calling the upcoming release “almost” a remix album. “Some of the songs have been remixed sort of classically, while others were reworked or rewritten. It’s incredible to hear all our worlds colliding.” This announcement wasn’t all, however, as the band later commented on their own post, “+1 b-side”.
With their songs being redone, reworked and reimagined, Paramore purposefully decided to keep their other musicians and inspirations in the forefront. In fact, even the cover art was inspired as a take on the painting, “Myths & Mortals” by contemporary artist Marlene Dumas.
As it turns out, the band had been dropping teasers all along, not only via an X notes app video but on their own Discord server. Paramore has been posting segments of their revamped songs ranging from 10 to 4 seconds. Each teaser is without a full title, though fans were quick to identify the songs and who may be featured on them, like “Liar” with The XX's Romy, “Thick Skull” with Julien Baker of boygenius, Remi Wolf singing on "You First," and more.
