Every year, the Preakness provides fireworks in Baltimore and on televisions nationwide.

This year's event proved no different, but it wasn't simply due to the finish. War of Will placed first in the 13-horse race, though it was the efforts of Bodexpress that proved most impressive.

Bodexpress' jockey John Velazquez fell at the beginning of the race, which led to an unprecendented sequence. Bodexpress ran the rest of the race without a jockey.

The riderless horse stole the show and stole the hearts of Twitter.

Here are a few of the best reactions from Twitter:

Good for jockey business that Bodexpress didn’t win without a jockey...

One thing is certain. Bodexpress perservered and came out as the Preakness star, even without coming in first.
