Capitals center Lars Eller doesn't fancy the idea of giving his opponents unnecessary bulletin board material, so he shied away from naming the Florida Panthers player who has gotten under his skin the most during Washington's first-round series.
But that person does exist, he divulged to The Sports Junkies Friday morning during a segment driven by Dulles Motorcars.
Asked if someone in particular on the Panthers has really gotten under his skin during the series, Eller replied, "Yeah, but I'm not gonna say who."
Eller was then asked, without naming any names, if he intends to give that person an extra shot when he sees him out on the ice, or if he plans to seek him out in any way.
"Yes, both," he said. "You seek him out and you're gonna go for it."
The Capitals are facing an elimination Game 6 at home, trailing the Panthers 3-2 in the series as it heads back to Capital One Arena Friday night. Eller prepared himself mentally by having a home-cooked meal Thursday night — steak, mashed sweet potatoes and mixed veggies — before unwinding by watching some playoff hockey.
"Always medium-rare," he said of how he likes his steak.
Eller says he's not the type to get in a teammates' ear to try to get him hyped up before a big game, but he does have a little tingle about Game 6.
"Yeah, I'm not the guy that's gonna go up and say... like, I talk a little less rather than too much," he said. "But I have a feeling that someone's gonna have a big night tonight."
