MLB Season Would Already Be On Hold 'If It Was The Yankees'

The Miami Marlins' season is officially on hold after another day of confirmed positive Coronavirus cases struck the organization.

The stoppage comes just three games into the already shortened 60-game season, which began last Friday in Philadelphia. The team remains in Philly after 19 confirmed cases including players and coaches were reported.

The plan from MLB is to keep the Marlins off the field until at least Sunday, and allow the team to continue to test players and prepare a healthy, Covid-19-free roster to continue playing next week.

As the pandemic now begins to directly impact Major League Baseball, questions are rising over the validity of MLB’s health and safety protocols as it continues to find a way to play the 2020 season.

USA Today’s MLB columnist Bob Nightengale joined Hoch and Crowder and went as far as to say that he believes the entire season would have already been put on pause had this outbreak impacted a more prominent franchise.

“I really believe if it was the Yankees, Red Sox or Dodgers they would have paused this season. Because it was the Marlins and they’re not supposed to be competitive this year, the season goes on.”
