Steph Curry and the Warriors made good on their promise to meet a young fan who was caught crying during their last visit to Denver earlier this week. When Golden State played the Nuggets in an oddly scheduled makeup game on Monday, Curry was one of a few Warriors resting on the front end of a back-to-back. TV cameras caught a young Warriors fan named PJ bawling once she figured out Curry wasn’t in the building.
Warriors PR man Raymond Ridder and the team invited the fan and her family back to Thursday night’s contest against the Nuggets.
Before tip-off, Curry said hi to PJ, who was brought down to courtside. Once again, she was brought to tears, this time happy tears.
After dropping 34 points in a 113-102 comeback win, Curry discussed the interaction with TNT.
"That's what the NBA is all about," Curry said. "Our fans are everything. It's a good time to be a fan of the entire league and what we're trying to build here. I told her I appreciate the support, the love, that passion for what we do on the court. It makes it all worth it. I know she was upset Monday and we got to make it up for her. Definitely a special night all the way around."
Kudos to the Warriors for making this special moment between Steph and PJ happen. Curry remains one of the league’s most adored players on the road, especially by young fans.
Steph knows that his role goes beyond splashing 3-pointers, as he is authoring a children’s book that’s set to release later this year.
