Apparently, Steven Stefanski won the NFL’s Coach of the Year award this season.
The NFL Honors were held Thursday, with the Cleveland Browns claiming a bevy of awards. But when it came time to announce who won Coach of the Year, actor Justin Hartley accidentally said “Steven” Stefanski instead of Kevin Stefanski.
And wouldn’t you know it – there’s a Steven Stefanski out there, and he’s related to the actual Kevin Stefanski.
The Browns head coach wasn’t able to attend the ceremony, but saw the gaffe happen in real time. He shared his reaction to it Friday in an exclusive interview on The Ken Carman Show with Anthony Lima.
“I did (see it),” Stefanski said. “And you know who had a great time last night was my cousin Steve Stefanski. His phone was blowing up, and in fact when the guy said that my son grabbed my phone and we called my cousin Steve. He answers the phone and says ‘I did it.’ He told me hard work pays off, so congrats to my cousin Steve.”
So, is cousin Steve now in the running for offensive play-caller next season?
“He is, yeah,” Stefanski cracked. “He’s in the running.”
