Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery joined The Sports Junkies on Wednesday, and talked about the unique experience of having tennis star and Maryland native Frances Tiafoe at practice this week, serving up tennis balls for the Caps to try and return from the ice.
“It was great having him here,” Carbery said. “I’ve followed him a little bit…him being from the DMV area, his strong roots here, it was great to have him out there.”
Tiafoe, ranked as the No. 16 men’s singles player in the world, was serving up tennis balls from the bench, while players used their sticks to try and return them. Tiafoe was likely holding back, as he has clocked serves at over 145 mph.
