Lamar Jackson has become a little bit of a lightning rod for criticism recently after catching Covid-19 for the second time and missing the beginning of training camp. Earlier in the Summer, Lamar was mum on whether or not he was vaccinated. When he reported to training camp early to undergo Covid testing, it became apparent that he wasn't. The positive test then followed. The topic of vaccinations has become a very divisive issue in the country. Naturally, Lamar's positive test has divided the Ravens fan base. Some are saying that it's his choice, while others believe he's putting his team at a disadvantage by not being vaccinated. Further more, some are saying that the positive Covid case proves his immaturity. One such person is The Baltimore Sun's Mike Preston.
Mike wrote a column last week that broke down what he see's as a recent pattern of questionable decisions by the 24-year-old. The positive Covid test, as well as some horseplay off the field over the summer, and the fact Lamar has not hired an agent to negotiate his upcoming contract extension, has Mike feeling that it's time for Lamar to, 'grow up.' Jackson is poised to become one of the highest paid players in the league on a team that has Super Bowl aspirations, but is Lamar really ready to be 'the guy,' if he's still making some questionable decisions? Listen in as Mike discusses his piece on Lamar and why he may needs some better people in his corner giving him advice.
