‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3 set to begin shooting on April 5

The highly-anticipated “The Mandalorian” is set to begin shooting Season 3 on April 5th.

The latest addition to the Star Wars phenomenon is currently in development/pre-production stages, according to a production list updated on Monday.

The show, created and directed by industry titan Jon Favreau, is the first live-action series in the “Star Wars” franchise, which takes place five years after the events of “Return of the Jedi” (1983).

The series exclusively streams on Disney+.

The show quickly became a hit after the first eight episodes were released in 2019. The show was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series at the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards, and won seven Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards. The second season of the show premiered in October of 2020.

Favreau, 54, directed blockbuster Marvel films such as “Iron Man,” and “Iron Man 2.”  Additionally, he worked as the Executive Producer for films including “The Avengers,” and “Iron Man 3.”

Favreau also acted and starred in hit films such as “Elf,” also starring Will Ferrell, “The Jungle Book” and “The Lion King” (2019), who cast pop star Beyonce to play the voice of lion "Nala."

“The Mandalorian” is responsible for gifting the world the adorable “Baby Yoda.”

The iconic tv-character inspired an entire new fad of toys, desserts, plant décor, cooking appliances, celebrity-endorsed cocktails, and even sat onboard a SpaceX spacecraft.

Last month, a video of the star showed Baby Yoda dancing on the set of “The Mandalorian” alongside director Robert Rodriguez strumming an acoustic guitar.

“The Mandalorian” will shoot the upcoming project in Los Angeles, California.  Disney+ has not announced an official release date for Season 3 yet.
