Country singer Matt Stell has reason to celebrate, with his latest single "Everywhere But On" from his eight-song EP Better Than That landing the number one spot on the Billboard Country Airplay chart.
Matt's debut single, "Prayed For You," topped the chart in 2019, making this Stell's second consecutive hit off the record.
Speaking with RADIO.COM's Katie Neal, Matt says he is ecstatic about the news. "This song is really a special one to me. I've lived a lot of the life in the song," he admits. "It's one of my favorite songs I've ever written. To watch a song which is like a pet to me, to mean that much," get the love it did from his team and record label, he says he is completely grateful.
"It's really hard to put into words," he says. "I know that's cliché, but it means a lot!"
Of all the reactions he's gotten from fans about the song, it's when they take the time to post their own takes on his music that really makes him take note.
"My favorite reactions to this song have been when people have put up cover videos of them playing the song. I know that's how I learned to play music. I would hear songs that did something for me," he explains, "and I would sit in front of a computer screen just like this, and I would learn how to play them from a website or just by listening to them."
"I know that's not exactly people saying something about it, but it says a whole lot when somebody thinks enough of your song to learn how to play it and post it online. I remember being that person doing that, and I wondered what it would be like. Watching people do that has been really cool."

Speaking of favorite songs... earlier this week, Matt spoke with RADIO.COM's Coop about the new EP saying he has a tough time himself coming up with his favorite track on the EP. "Man, you know, It’s like picking my favorite food," he told us. "It just kinda depends on the time of day."
