Following the revelation last year, Wallen was put on hiatus by his record label, radio stations dropped his songs, and he was banned from appearing at a number of award shows... notably the 2021 Billboard Music Awards. Wallen then embarked on an apology tour and has since been welcomed back into the entertainment fold with an Album Of The Year win at the 2022 ACMs and a return to the road.

In a statement issued to Deadline, the production team behind this year's BBMAs say they will be welcoming Wallen back "after a thorough review and robust discussions," explaining they had found a "demonstrated and ongoing commitment to meaningful work and outreach" by the singer and his crew. "We oppose discrimination, harassment, or racism of any kind. We believe in treating everyone with dignity and respect," they add, explaining their decision to "extended an invitation" to Wallen this year.

The 2022 Billboard Music Awards will air live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 15 at 8PM ET / 5PM PT on NBC. Check out Audacy's exclusive BBMA radio station now!
