Explaining how he and his fiancée's first date was during a video shoot he had invited her to be the love interest in for his song, "Some Habits," Cole admits the interaction was "so awkward."

"A love song with somebody on the first date... you have to act like you're in love on he first date... I thought it would be a cool little thing," he says, "but I was like, 'Man, this is nerve-racking.' I never knew it would lead to us being engaged, but yeah... fast-forward a year and a half, almost two years later."

Swindell is currently winding down his Twelve Tour, launched on October 12, featuring 12 shows, with 12 different sets, in 12 different cities. "12 was always my high school number," he says, "it's just always been my number for some reason. It's been cool for me and the band," he adds. "This setlist is an hour and a half, we switch it every night," says Cole. "We get to put in a bunch of old stuff that [fans] always request that people that might not be die-hard fans might not know."

The process of choosing songs for setlists as well as singles can be tough, Cole admits. One of his own favorites that he wishes would have been given more of a spotlight is the track "Broke Down" from his sophomore release, You Should Be Here. "You just can't get to all of 'em," he says. "But that's always my point; I want to make the best album I can. I want it to be hard to choose a single... There's always a couple that you wish could have seen the light of day, but you can't complain. I'm happy to have the ones y'all have given me."

More new music is definitely on the way, and Cole says he's "busting" to get it out to fans. "The stuff we have recorded I think is next-level, which is what we gotta have."
