According to Darius Rucker, there's one thing better than golfing all day, every day

Find out what it is

Darius Rucker is happier than ever to be playing live music after unexpected time off, but honestly, we wouldn’t blame him if he missed his quarantine life even a little after hearing how made he had it.

“I played a lot of golf,” Darius told Audacy’s Kelly Ford during an interview before Audacy’s Stars and String Presented by Samsung Galaxy on Saturday night. “I got really good over the pandemic, I have to admit that.”

Ok, if he’s admitting he’s good, you know it’s true.

“I live on a golf course, there was nothing else to do than play golf,” Darius said, keeping himself humble.

So what happened during the rare moments Darius wasn’t playing golf, you ask?

“I wrote a lot,” Darius said of the time he spent off the golf course. “I’m trying to finish my record and I’ve got like 70 songs or something I’m trying to get through."

Golfing during the day and songwriting at night? Sounds like paradise to us, but to Darius, there’s only one thing that’s better, and that’s playing shows for his fans.

“I talked to some of my friends who said being off for that long made them realize they didn’t want to tour as much as they did and it was the exact opposite for me,” Darius explained. “Being off that long, I really realized how much I love it. How much I love doing what I do. How much I love being out there and playing shows for people.”

He continued, “When we finally got to go back out and see the crowds and the voice started coming back — I felt like I was breathing again.”
