Jelly Roll is continuing to enjoy life cell phone-free after chucking his phone off a bridge and into the Cumberland river in December 2024.

The “Save Me” singer recently caught up with Audacy’s Rob + Holly and confirmed he’s still cell phone-less two months later and enjoying life more than ever. “I got a laptop [and] I email like it’s 1998 and I’m just waiting on the dial-up modem,” he said when asked how he communicates. “It’s awesome.”

The 40-year-old went on to share it was at Super Bowl LVIII in 2024 when he had an “aha” moment that made him say goodbye to his cell.

“Super Bowl last year I [was] in a Raising Cane’s Suite with like, Leonardo DiCaprio, Vince Vaughn… it was crazy. We’re at the Super Bowl and I [was] on my phone when somebody scored a touchdown. Everybody jumped up and [was] screaming and I remember looking up and being like, ‘Oh, that’s cool,’ and went right back to my phone. I was like, ‘this ain’t healthy.’”

He also recalled receiving messages that put unnecessary weight on some of his biggest moments, including award shows. “When I won the ACM and I woke up the next day to a whole bunch of texts, I had a text from a friend who I love who was kind of berating me for not being able to get a hold of me. I remember feeling ashamed, angry… I remember feeling so many unnecessary feelings about this that I was like, ‘This isn’t healthy’” he shared. “It was making me miserable.”

Sounds like there’s no regrets for Jelly. Hear more about his decision by listening to his chat with Rob + Holly above.
